Transportation Information (2026)

All campers (Grades 1-6 and PAT) not riding to camp with an adult volunteer must ride a camp bus.

PAs can ride the bus (and serve as bus monitors), drive to camp (with a full driver's license), carpool with an adult volunteer, or carpool with another PA (with a full driver's license).

Adult At-Camp Volunteers can drive to camp, or ride the bus as Bus Adults.

Adult SWAT Volunteers helping on-site will drive themselves to camp.

For more details by registration group, see our Transportation Policies page.

BUS STOPS AND TIMES

Bus stops, departure times, and arrival times will no longer be posted on our public web site. Information will be shared with registered campers and volunteers through e-mail and direct links.

Please be at the bus stop 10 minutes before posted times, both AM and PM.

NOTE: Posted times are TENTATIVE and may change. For example, afternoon times may be delayed due to loading issues. Please arrive at the bus stop as scheduled and be patient.

CODE OF MARYLAND REGULATION

In line with the Maryland State Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR):

By registering and authorizing a camper to attend GSHCDC and ride a camp bus, parents/guardians agree and understand that they or their designates -- not Girl Scout Howard County Day Camp (GSHCDC) -- are responsible for supervising their camper(s) at the bus stop before they are picked up in the morning, and after they are dropped off in the afternoon.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES

We understand that sometimes events come up that prevent parents from getting to the bus stop in time to pick up their children. In the interest of the safety of all of our campers, we cannot allow children to remain at the bus stop unattended.

If you know you will be unable to pick up your children at the appointed time (that is ten minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive), please make other arrangements and notify GSHCDC Transportation of the changes. Should you not be able to make other arrangements, call us before 3:00 pm and instead of putting your child on the bus, we will keep them here at camp until 4:00 pm.

Girl Scout policy states that if a child is left unattended at a bus stop, we are to call the police to get them. While we can reach some of the bus stops very quickly from camp to pick up a child, we cannot reach all stops in a safe time and so would have to call the police.
